Dr Liz Layard

Liz is a Clinical Psychologist and Board approved Supervisor with 20 years of experience working across the lifespan from child and adolescent mental health through to palliative care. She has a special interest in perinatal wellbeing and matresence.

Liz’s work at the Mother Hub includes addressing antenatal and postnatal depression and/or anxiety, adjustment, birth trauma, pregnancy counselling, fertility impacts on wellbeing, perinatal grief and loss, gender dysphoria, difficulty with caregiver-infant attachment, parenting, re-establishing identity/role in the workplace and perinatal relationship changes. Liz tailors her therapeutic approach to the individual needs of her clients.

Liz sees people who are considering conception through to 2 years post-partum. Liz can see clients privately but recommends getting a Mental Health Care Plan to assist with the affordability of the appointments and enables a shared care approach where she and your doctor are both working together to address the concerns.

Chrissie Foy

Chrissie Foy

www.caremidwifery.com.au

After graduating as a midwife in 2011 Chrissie worked in New Zealand for a short time and then returned to Canberra, working predominately in the Birth Centre at Centenary Hospital for Women and Children. Chrissie enjoyed her time working in continuity of care, supporting, advocating and navigating the system in partnership with women and families.

Her journey to providing planned homebirth care was ignited by the Publicly Funded Homebirth Trial and program. Supporting women to birth at home has had a profound impact on her practice and has felt like a natural progression. Women and families choose homebirth for many different reasons. It is an honour and privilege to be invited into their space to share this experience.

Chrissie became an Endorsed Midwife in 2022 and has worked at The Mother Hub since then. She has found working at the Mother Hub has added to her practice enabling her to support women in their lactation and breastfeeding journey.

However, she says the highlight of her midwifery career has been the establishment of the Mother Hub. Mel completed her IBCLC in 2017 and enjoys the challenge caring for women and babies experiencing complex lactation issues.

Mel is passionate about supporting women to achieve their best parenting journey, whether this is through pregnancy care, labour and birth care or the woman’s breastfeeding and parenting journey. However, the journey looks for each individual family.
